VICENTE GELO
singer

Vicente Gelo is a young flamenco singer originally from Albaida del Aljarafe (Seville). He learnt to sing in the flamenco gatherings of the Sevillian “peñas” (groups) such as Torres Macarena and Pies Plomo, listening to the best enthusiasts that would stop by. He perfected his talent with the help of Naranjito de Triana, an institution in “trianero” singing. His secondary education in flamenco was spent working in different Sevillian “tablaos” (bars). He has participated in competitions, winning important prizes such as "Sol de Oro 2003" (Golden Sun 2003) at the Lorca Flamenco Song Festival (Murcia) and was finalist in the contest “Cante de Las Minas de la Union” in 1998.

Even though he has presented recitals in flamenco “peñas” all over Spain, his passion is singing for dance, in which he has had the good fortune to work with first class stars such as Antonio Gades, Cristina Hoyos, Jose Antonio, Pepa Montes, Isabel Bayon, Fernando Romero, Alejandro Granados, Rafael Campallo, El Junco, Pastora Galvan, Angeles Gabaldon, Felipe Mato, etc...

Currently he forms part of the cast of the "Ballet Flamenco de Andalucia" (Andalusian Flamenco Ballet) directed by Cristina Hoyos, touring the world’s most important theatres with the show "Viaje al Sur" (Journey to the South).
