Rafael Rodriguez Hidalgo began playing guitar at the age of 13 under the tuition of Andres Vazquez, a Sevillian teacher at the “Niño Ricardo” school. Since then, his formation has been self-taught. As a professional he has been, and is, a regular with artists of great standing as are Milagros Mengibar, Alejandro Granados, Belen Maya, Angeles Gabaldon, Pastora Galvan, Hiniesta Cortes, Manuela Rios, Juan Ogalla, Jairo Barull and a long etcetera. Likewise, he has worked with prestigious artists such as Bernarda de Utrera, Farruco, Israel Galvan, Concha Vargas, Sordera de Jerez, Gaspar de Utrera, Pepa de Benito, Pepa de Utrera, etc with whom he has toured all the main theatres and flamenco festivals of the world.

At the present time, Rafael is one of the most experienced and versatile guitarists of the flamenco scene. His justness in accompanying song and dance means he is in great demand in all circles and scenic proposals, which coexist in these times of development of the art of flamenco.
