Erase
una vez el Flamenco came about from personal
restlessness. Jose Luis Ortiz Nuevo wrote the script for this
show in order to try to organize and transmit the history of
flamenco with an integral proposal in which dictation and art
join forces. The final result is not exclusively aimed at
Andalusian school children, but is a project with a clear
transmission vocation and in the presence of which differences
in generations, race or nationality should not cause segregation
but rather the opposite.
Erase una vez el Flamenco is an imaginary journey
through flamenco by means of a unique dictation-artistic
suggestion. The scriptwriter and narrator - Jose Luis Ortiz
Nuevo – tells and recites short, transversal stories about the
history of flamenco with the purpose of driving the audience
along an epic-artistic route in which song, dance and guitar
indicate the direction and put a musical and expressive note to
an experience through which the demonstration of the most
authentic character of the Andalusian culture is brought closer
to the youth of today. To awaken, in our young, an interest in
music and dance, which make up the most important immaterial
heritage of our region, is the reason which motivated the
Angeles Gabaldon Company to give life to the idea here
represented.
